Why be a Trustee?
I was thrilled at being voted in by the members as a Trustee Director in January 2018. I am very interested in pensions and how they work. This interest has been fuelled by the time I spent working for our Scheme Administrators and Investment Advisors – Willis Towers Watson – before joining HSBC Securities Services in 2011, where my day-to-day role is about managing teams that service institutional pension fund clients in their post-trade activities. I am keen to bring this knowledge and experience to the Board for the benefit of our DB and DC members alike.
As a newly elected Director, my main priority will be to familiarise myself with the workings of the Scheme in order to ensure that it is operating as it should. Beyond that, engagement in pensions is a perennial challenge, which I intend to focus on to make sure that our members understand more about all the benefits of the Scheme, so that they can feel more informed about their choices in respect of retirement planning. The image of the pension industry has taken a hit in recent years, and I am keen to do my bit to help promote all the positive elements of pension provision.
